چکیده

Given an undirected graph with weights associated with its edges, the degree-constrained minimum spanning tree problem consists in nding a minimum spanning tree of the given graph, subject to constraints on node degrees. We propose a variable neighborhood search heuristic for the degree-constrained minimum spanning tree problem, based on a dynamic neighborhood model and using a variable neighborhood descent iterative improvement algorithm for local search. Computational experiments illustrating the eeectiveness of the approach on benchmark problems are reported.

Disjunctive combinatorial branch in a subgradient tree algorithm for the DCMST problem with VNS-Lagrangian bounds

Consider an undirected graph G = (V,E) with a set of nodes V and a set of weighted edges E. The weight of an edge e ∈ E is denoted by ce ≥ 0. The degree constrained minimum spanning tree (DCMST) problem consists in finding a minimum spanning tree of G subject to maximum degree constraints dv ∈ N on the number of edges connected to each node v ∈ V . We propose a Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS...

Variable Neighborhood Search and Ant Colony Optimization for the Rooted Delay-Constrained Minimum Spanning Tree Problem

The rooted delay-constrained minimum spanning tree problem is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem arising for example in the design of centralized broadcasting networks where quality of service constraints are of concern. We present two new approaches to solve this problem heuristically following the concepts of ant colony optimization (ACO) and variable neighborhood search (VNS). The...

Variable neighborhood search for the cost constrained minimum label spanning tree and label constrained minimum spanning tree problems

Given an undirected graph whose edges are labeled or colored, edge weights indicating the cost of an edge, and a positive budget B, the goal of the cost constrained minimum label spanning tree (CCMLST) problem is to find a spanning tree that uses the minimum number of labels while ensuring its cost does not exceed B. The label constrained minimum spanning tree (LCMST) problem is closely related...

Solving Medium to Large Sized Euclidean Generalized Minimum Spanning Tree Problems

The generalized minimum spanning tree problem is a generalization of the minimum spanning tree problem. This network design problems finds several practical applications, especially when one considers the design of a large-capacity backbone network connecting several individual networks. In this paper we study the performance of six neighborhood search heuristics based on tabu search and variab...

Heuristic methods for solving two Generalized Network Problems

This thesis examines two combinatorial optimization problems: the Generalized Degree Constrained Minimum Spanning Tree Problem (d-GMSTP) and the Generalized Minimum Vertex Bi-connected Network Problem (GMVBCNP). Both problems are NPhard. Given a clustered graph where nodes are partitioned into clusters, the goal is to find a minimal cost subgraph containing exactly one node from each cluster an...
